"And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." Acts 2:42

What To Expect

We believe the worship of God is the highest calling of Christian life, it is what we were made for. Worship is a joyful and reverent gathering of God’s people each Lord’s Day. The hearts and minds of the congregation should be engaged and their voices heard throughout the service. We follow a purposeful and Biblical liturgy that shares a rich history with Christian worship through the ages. Worship serves as the training ground for the Christian life where we are equipped, reminded, and blessed to live before the face of God. You can expect to sing with the saints, pray responsively together, and recite our common faith as one body. One of the elders leads the congregation through our service as we follow our worship bulletin together. We sing the great classic hymns, the best of modern hymns, and regularly sing from the Psalms (Ephesians 5:19). Our congregation is multi-generational, with the oldest and youngest included in worship each week. We provide a flex area for parents who may need to step out with their child, where they can continue to hear the service. A nursing mother’s room is also available. After the worship service we have a time of fellowship over coffee, tea, and treats followed by Sunday school for both children and adults. Once a month we also hold a shared fellowship meal together at the church.

Principles For Worship

Our worship is a Divine Service. Pleasing God is our purpose and delight. We acknowledge that we have been gathered by our God to serve him and be served by him.

Our worship is a Public Service. Our worship is not a private affair but a public participation in a work of God’s people. We acknowledge that we have been summoned by God to a communal event for his people.

Our worship is Gospel-Formed. All true Christian churches believe and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their worship. Our worship goes beyond the affirmation and proclamation of the Gospel and is shaped by the Gospel in its arrangement. We go from God’s call to hear, heed, and repent to God’s promise of our forgiveness and assurance to God’s word for our instruction and transformation.

Our worship is Scripture-Saturated. We understand that the people of God are always formed by the Word of God. We believe that Holy Scripture provided us with a wealth of words with which to worship God. Thus, the various prayers, confessions, and responses in our worship use the language and content of Scripture, so that we speak the words that God has spoken to reform us from our wayward wandering, conform us to his righteous standards, and transform us into the image of his glorified Son.

Our worship follows the Regulative Principle. As a confessionally Reformed and Presbyterian church, we believe in the goodness and wisdom of doing those things which the Lord has particularly commanded in his worship and has expressed as pleasing to him. As the Lord has said concerning worship, “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it” (Deut. 12:32).

Our worship is arranged as Covenant Renewal. As a confessionally Reformed and Presbyterian church, we believe that God is approached and experienced by way of the covenant that he has established. The Scriptures present a recurring pattern to God’s covenant worship:

  • Calling – hearing the summons to come together before the Lord
  • Cleansing – confessing our sins and hearing assurance of the Lord’s pardon
  • Consecration – confessing our faith, offering prayers, reading and preaching of Scripture
  • Communion – feasting upon the Lord’s Supper at the Lord’s Table in the Lord’s Peace
  • Commission – hearing the charge to go forth with the blessing of the Lord

Our worship is Family-Integrated. We believe that God wants all his people of whatever age and ability to assemble and participate in worship as one body. Throughout the Scriptures, God has always called his people to include their children in his corporate worship. We believe this is a vital part of training children to grow in and inherit the Christian Faith of those who came before them.
