What to Expect

A joyful and reverent
gathering of God's people

We believe the worship of God is the highest calling of the Christian life — it is what we were made for. The hearts and minds of the congregation are engaged and their voices heard throughout the service. We follow a purposeful, Biblical liturgy that shares a rich history with Christian worship through the ages.

You can expect to sing with the saints, pray responsively together, hear God's Word read and preached, recite our common faith as one body, and celebrate the Lord's Supper each week. Our elders lead the congregation as we follow the worship bulletin together. We sing the great classic hymns, the best of modern hymns, and regularly sing from the Psalms.

Our congregation is multi-generational, with the oldest and youngest worshiping together each week. A flex area is available for parents who may need to step out with a child, along with a nursing mother's room. After the service we share coffee, tea, and treats, followed by Sunday school for children and adults — and a shared fellowship meal once a month.

The Order of Service

Worship as Covenant Renewal

God is approached by way of the covenant He has established. The Scriptures present a recurring pattern to His worship — each Lord's Day we are called up into His presence and sent out with His blessing. Select a movement to walk through the service.

Movement I

Calling

We hear the summons to come together before the Lord. Worship does not begin with us — God gathers His people and calls them into His presence.

In the serviceThe Call to Worship, the opening hymn of praise, and the invocation — we answer God's call by drawing near.

“We acknowledge that we have been summoned by God to a communal event for His people.”

Movement II

Cleansing

We confess our sins together and hear the assurance of the Lord's pardon. Drawing near to a holy God, we are first made clean by His grace.

In the serviceCorporate confession of sin and the declaration of God's forgiveness in Christ.

“From God's call to hear, heed, and repent to God's promise of our forgiveness and assurance.”

Movement III

Consecration

We confess our common faith, offer our prayers, and sit under the reading and preaching of Scripture — set apart by the Word for the Lord's purposes.

In the serviceThe creed, the prayers of the people, and the reading and preaching of God's Word.

“The people of God are always formed by the Word of God.”

Movement IV

Communion

We feast upon the Lord's Supper at the Lord's Table in the Lord's peace — celebrated every week, the family of God gathered at the family meal.

In the serviceThe weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper, received together as one body.

“Feasting upon the Lord's Supper at the Lord's Table in the Lord's Peace.”

Movement V

Commission

We hear the charge to go forth with the blessing of the Lord. Equipped and renewed, we are sent back into the world to live before the face of God.

In the serviceThe charge to God's people and the benediction — sent out under His blessing.

“Hearing the charge to go forth with the blessing of the Lord.”

“Worship serves as the training ground for the Christian life — where we are equipped, reminded, and blessed to live before the face of God.”

Our Convictions

Principles for worship

i.

A Divine Service

Pleasing God is our purpose and delight. We have been gathered by our God to serve Him and be served by Him.

ii.

A Public Service

Worship is not a private affair but a public participation in a work of God's people, summoned to a communal event.

iii.

Gospel-Formed

Our worship goes beyond proclaiming the Gospel — it is shaped by the Gospel in its very arrangement.

iv.

Scripture-Saturated

Our prayers, confessions, and responses use the language and content of Scripture, that we may speak the words God has spoken.

v.

The Regulative Principle

We do those things the Lord has commanded in His worship and expressed as pleasing to Him — neither adding nor taking away.

vi.

Family-Integrated

God wants all His people, of every age and ability, to assemble and participate in worship together as one body.
